the blues are going to be bad but not bad enough to meaningful improve themselves in the draft again. retooling instead of rebuilding stays winning

Good Soldier Svejk posted:Who would they jettison even if they could? Everyone of any real value has a NTC except Kyrou and Thomas and even if they could beg people to waive the cap is so damned tight for competitors the returns would be garbage theoretically someone is interested in krug (when healthy) except he probably only wants to go back to boston and i don't know but it seemed like toronto really wanted parayko for some reason last season. just move them for a bag of pucks at this point

Eric the Mauve posted:Signing Justin Faulk, mostly. That was the first domino to fall, but it really was Doug Armstrong's refusal to grant Pietrangelo any sort of NMC (or length of term, which is ???? considering half the team is on super long contracts). He then followed this up with a series of dumbass (re)signings like Krug and Leddy, thinking this would fix the defense, in addition to Binnington's anchor contract. To compound this, he traded away Jake Walman and Ville Husso to the Red Wings, weirdly let fan favorite and guy who seems to love the org David Perron walk, and let Vince Dunn go in the expansion draft despite having a bunch of bad contracts he could've exposed instead. He'll get fired eventually, but the Cup halo will carry him well past. his expiration date.

It's going to be extremely satisfying watching MLS zoom past the NHL as the 4th most popular league in the US in the next decade
