I found bar-hopping very fun but overall the impression I got was unfriendly. Probably because I was a broke idiot and not a highly paid idiot. But I'm a bad barometer for this sort of thing. And the dark winter weather didn't bother me at all. Everybody was so depressed and I was just like "Nice and cool and shady, isn't it? Big Gulps, huh? Welp, see ya!"

Lived near Seattle for a year. Highlights were seeing a marionette opera at the puppet museum, hiking around the Olympic peninsula, and going to Northwest Folklife. Never experienced the much-discussed freeze. I think a bunch of computer touching youngs move there after college and just have no idea how to make friends in the real world and then bitch about it on reddit. I still have people I talk to. Solid 8/10 city, would live there happily if I had to.

I run into these seattle/portland transplants and its infuriating. "oh we just wanted to move somewhere nice for the weather, with good paying jobs" get the gently caress out of california, go to the midwest or florida, the state is already full.

I have a nice time living in the city of Seattle Its about as good as it gets in piss country USA I'd probably be happier back in Europe but it'd be a real pain to make that work out for me

seattle is a boring city with nothing to recommend it but it's gotta be cool to be able to pop on over to mt rainier or oylmpic. those are some primo parks, especially rainier and the coastal forests with the weathered stone beaches and sea stacks
