Scoring question. Had this pop up in a game I saw tonight:

A batter bunted a ball, but touched the batted ball in fair territory while running to first. I know the batter is out and the ball is dead. How is it scored, though?

His late inning defense was great in tight games ... because he wasn't out there to flail at anything his way

Reliever, but Peter Moylan had to as well.

Pierce Johnson will stay with Atlanta for $14.25m/2y plus one club option at $7m.

He was a pleasant surprise. Brad Hand was thoroughly cooked, but the work Atlanta's coaching staff did to make Johnson actually good was admirable.

This is a pretty rad rebranding

The city's high schools have occasionally leaned into the name. They're currently the Wolves (Mussolini gifted the city a Capitoline Wolf). When the high schools were split, East Rome were the Gladiators.

I have no idea who any of the non-Soroka guys are, but that's a lot of bodies for one (1) reliever

Bless him, Soroka made it back to the Majors in 2023. His ligaments are the consistency of wet cotton candy. I'm pulling for him but even if he can ever find his form, his body will immediately self-destruct.

Shuster: One of many to audition to be a back-of-rotation starter this year. He's in this trade so he a) obviously didn't pass the test and b) obviously gave Atlanta no interest in giving him another shot.

Shewmake: All glove, no bat. He's here because he was never going to get playing time with both Albies and Vaughn Grissom. Slight cup of coffee in bigs, so maybe you have something there.

Lopez: Can actually play at the MLB level. Hit a grand slam off the Mets. Can pitch in garbage time.

Gowens: Hasn't seen the big leagues yet. Dunno anything beyond his name.

Braves traded Kyle Wright to the Royals for Jackson Kowar

Pretty good deal for KC long-term if he can be healthy after he comes back from surgery

They must feel Wright is completely cooked.

Juan Gonzalez, now there's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

Donruss '88 red cards with the player's name scripted in white, there's a memory for y'all

That was Donruss 1990. 1988 were mostly blue borders.

I owned too many junk wax cards.

Sale must feel a need to be near his one true leader: Drake LaRoche.

LaRoche was last seen listed for Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama. He doesn't seem to have played any, though.

Was going through some stuff this afternoon and found my youth glove: Spalding Frank Viola model.

It was the only glove for lefties at the Pic-N-Save, so that's what my parents bought.
