I used to be an admin,
but then I took an arrow
to the knee.
I searched long and hard, but could not find a post icon for Mangosteen.
That said, I put zero effort into searching for a memorial thread. As Rich would have appreciated. And promptly ~almost~ banned me for before shouting something about PHP via chat.

Is there any sort of ongoing memorial for that fucker? He was a complicated man, but there are parts of him I miss and would like to pay some respects.

Well then let this be it.

Rich, you were one bizarre man. I remember hanging out with you at one point, buying that lovely Camaro just days after your ex girlfriend ditched you in the most drama-riffic way possible. You showed me flash game dev and made me sure I only wanted to do back-end dev for the next many years. You showed me my still-favorite horror movie and unwittingly showed me things I needed to know to be a better man.

I remember your wedding a few years later where I was wowed by these pre-youtubers who also attended--folks who in order to capitalize on their comedy and video production skills had to sell a loving DVD instead of monetizing views.

I think of you sometimes, dude. You hosed up and I don't forgive you that, but I do hope you're spending eternity listening to Gas Chamber music, which I know you'd enjoy. Treat me mean, I Need the Reputation for lyfe. You shaped my life in ways I can't tell you now. But FWIW, hellbans, Gooncon, the birth of image macros, and runnin' teh whoops are all important milestones I'll never forget thanks to you.

Suck it, my friend.

The customer-facing cash register screens at 7-Eleven have a line that says LOW TAX on them. At least they do in my city, I don't know if they're like that anywhere else. Gone but not completely forgotten

The hospital pic was like several years and a couple of abused partners before he shot himself. Although it might have been the beginning of the end, since I'm guessing that's when he started getting addicted to painkillers.

I met Richard IRL in 2004 at the Coogee Bay Hotel when he came to Sydney and he shouted me and some other weird hosed-up goons beers.

He did not seem like a oval office at the time. I enjoyed his company.

I'd be tense too if I had a bunch of goon fans back when goons were all young troublemakers.
