18 to Party It's like the pre-teen actors also wrote, directed, filmed, and produced it. And even then if I were their junior high drama & AV teacher I'd give them a C at best. A Prairie Home Companion. Being a bland, white, Lutheran midwesterner with a German/Scandinavian background I found the actual radio show entertaining enough at the time, so I figured a movie version would probably be pretty decent. And hey, it's an Altman film! Why not give it a shot? What I got was one of the few times I was tempted to walk out of the theater. Just absolutely dull, boring, lifeless and pointless. At least the radio program showed some spark of wit at times.

The Dead Don't Die. Genuinely insulting in how much of a pretentious, masturbatory waste of time that movie is. I was genuinely angry by the end of it when it became so very clear that the director had no respect for his audience.

I'll stick my neck out and submit a sacred cow (while conceding that I probably wouldn't call it "pointless" and can acknowledge that it's well shot and acted so it's only a partial example anyway): I'm sorry but I've tried three separate times and Rosemary's Baby has just never done anything for me and I can legit say it's one of those most boring movies I've ever seen. I think it's mostly because it feels like for so much of the running time the audience is waaaayyyy ahead of Rosemary as far as her predicament goes and while I guess that was meant to be suspenseful I just found it really tedious. Maybe you had to be there?

The scene where Tilda Swinton turns on a computer by waving her hand over it got a big laugh when I saw it in a theatre. And for some reason her line reading of "is he the physically attractive one?" is stuck in my head. But it went way too far into fourth wall breaking and lost the audience.

I'm sure the 2019 Lion King movie has been mentioned but that's for sure mine. The dumbest thing about it is how "real" the animals are. Because actual animals can emote dammit! Like yeah sure not in the 1:1 anthropomorphized way you see in a cartoon but like, look at a lion or plenty of other animals irl, like, animals have a ton body language and in this case facial expressions a human can parse. This movie has so many shots of a just head on shot of lions that look bored as gently caress? Like I don't understand how you can have so much clear technical know-how on screen and still have the faces feel so stiff and lifeless. Like they put a little work into kid Simba and just said gently caress it to everything else. Looking back now maybe it was like the recent Flash movie where execs were hype about it and put a lot of money in because it was another "hell yeah this is the future if this hits big we won't need to pay actors ever again!" attempt.

I fell asleep watching Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy. Can't really remember much else about that one. There's also that one Terrence Malick movie about World War II (I think it was A Hidden Life). Like, I hate Nazis as much as anyone, but the only thing I remember about that movie is being annoyed by all of the god drat jump cuts. E: Thinking about it more, I wouldn't call A Hidden Life pointless. I just really hated all of those jump cuts.

They might as well have been speaking Greek. It's also a different style of filming than Hollywood is used to doing.

Rubber is loving great because the opening scene is one of the characters talking direct to the camera and the audience telling you there's no reason to have made this film. I do love that people get to the end of it and are mad like they weren't warned

I couldn’t wait for Boyhood to end. The whole gimmick of shooting it over the course of thirteen (or however many) years did not justify how much that movie dragged and meandered. People love it, so maybe I’m just a dummy, but goddamn did I hate that experience.

There are some themes of classism and how the dregs of society are largely ignored unless they're entertaining to gawk at. I think the movie would be a hell of a lot more interesting if he was actually a really good comedian on the stage but troubled in real life but that would make it even more of a King of Comedy wannabe. I really didn't like this movie, but the idea of the sequel being a musical is at least intriguing. Maybe they'll rip off Norman Jewison or Bob Fosse this time.

I don't like superhero movies but by the end I wished it was a straight comicbook movie instead of whatever that was.
