Fascinating internet poll here where it's almost 50/50 on preference between Brock Purdy and Justin Fields. Purdy should be winning this in a landslide but maybe people just stick to their priors.

How would Brock do on the literal Chicago Bears
Worse than Brock on the Niners but probably better than Justin Fields on the Bears, because by all available evidence Brock is a better player of the quarterback position.

Not gonna divorce purdy from his situation, or Trevor from his. Lest we forget not five weeks ago all the moron talking heads were saying the jags are a shoein for a top two spot in the conference, I don’t agree that their roster is on the same level as the 49ers but people were certainly talking about them like they are.
I think the justification for putting the Jaguars as a 2 seed was less that their roster was top tier and Lawrence was elite, and more that they play in the easiest division in the conference and had the easiest division in the opposite conference on their schedule. If they just beat the teams they should beat, 13 wins wasn't out of the question.

Yes they're both bad quarterbacks who are bad. The main thing is that Patriots fans deserve like 20 more years of this.

I know everyone wants to find the next offensive supergenius but that seems insane to me. Even Kevin O'Connell did 3 years as an OC and he was extremely green when he was hired.

I know McClain has a history with the Watson situation of playing loose with the facts but still fun to think they were saved from themselves by Lovie Smith.

I think he’s a worthy QB1 in a lot of years even though I maintain Jayden Daniels is going to be ridiculous. I just don’t see the can’t miss superstar he was made out to be.

It would be cool if they could expand the criteria for QBs before 2021. I want to know if he's worse than Josh Rosen was.
Rosen would be much worse, but like he's the only one worse. The worst QBs to enter the league since 2018 on a EPA per play basis, two of them being undrafted...

Zach Wilson (-0.162)
David Blough (-0.183)
Brett Rypien (-0.184)
Bryce Young (-0.190)
Josh Rosen (-0.314)

It’s insane this is the same guy Matt Ryan started ignoring his first year in Atlanta.
I mean I guess you need to be wary of the guy coming off coaching Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel, but his track record is pretty flawless with Pro Bowl Matt Schaub, ROY RG3, MVP Matt Ryan, etc.. He loses coaches and front office guys every year and he still churns out points.

He probably wont get the award because people like to give it to the biggest coaching turnaround for whatever reason, but Shanahan is the best in football.

Put it this way: if you're the SF GM, would you rather lose Purdy or CMC?

100% I'd trust Shanahan to replace CMC's production rather than have Darnold QB the rest of the way out. Not even close.

EPA is a team offense stat. CPOE is more tied to QB skill but it’s still subjective.

I hope the kid learns how to play football but I’ve seen enough disaster level rookie QB seasons to know that they pretty much never do.

He’s just too short. Maybe if he juices enough to approximate Kyler’s body type he can function but right now he’s a cautionary tale.

Diva Cupcake

Lot of teams pinning their off-season hopes on shoring up their OLs when there just isn’t enough good OL to go around.

QBs have to be able to function with substandard line play.
