Kesper North posted:Israel has ordered 1.1 million people to evacuate northern Gaza within 24 hours, a totally realistic and not at all insane proposal https://twitter.com/AmichaiStein1/status/1712689503410778179 After announcing that crazy 24 hour deadline to the UN, they've backtracked in just a few hours. I'm pretty sure there isn't an actual plan for the Israeli response besides try not to get lynched by grieving Jewish family members for telling everyone that your billion dollar invincible border wall cannot be pierced by Hamas. Gotta remember that unlike 9/11, where W. Bush's approval rating shot up from 50% to 90% in a single day, Benjamin Netanyahu's approval rating among Israeli voters has gone down compared to just a week ago. https://m.jpost.com/israel-news/article-767880

We saw the training, people shooting and rolling, practicing taking over a tank. The training went from once a week to twice a week, from every day to several times a day,” she told Channel 12. “We saw patrols along the border, people with cameras and binoculars. It happened 300 meters from the fence. There were a lot of disturbances, people went down to the fence and detonated an outrageous amount of explosives, the amount of explosives was crazy.”

https://www.silentlunch.net/p/did-the-entire-media-industry-misquote Strong argument that Aljazeera (I bet intentionally because how does Aljazeera English screw up an Arabic to English translation like this) mistranslated a statement and every english news outlet blindly copied the tweet like lemmings.

Wasabi the J posted:I find it hard to believe that Israel the country with multiple cyber warfare, intelligence and espionage agencies didn't know what they were doing https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/29/world/middleeast/israel-intelligence-hamas-attack.html quote:Their judgment that night might have been different had they been listening to traffic on the (cheap, shoddy chinese made) hand-held radios of Hamas militants. But Unit 8200, Israel’s signals intelligence agency, had stopped eavesdropping on those networks a year earlier because they saw it as a waste of effort. Don't underestimate their hubris.

You see it most clearly in the Israeli air force. During the six-days war, Israel's air force fought almost entirely using Dassault warplanes. French aircraft. They don't even get the A-4 Skyhawk and F-4 Phantom until after the war. Even then, the Yom Kippur war was mostly fought in the air with Skyhawks, since the funds from the US weren't big enough back then for them to give every pilot cutting edge planes.
