In general I feel like members of the military should be pretty familiar with the idea of something that doesn't actually do what it says on the label, but institutionally everyone pretends it does because of fiscal incentives or just because that's what it's supposed to do. I think there's a reason the phrase 'all in on a busted flush' came to mind a while back when it comes to US support for Israel.

Not to mention their neighbouring Arab states being regularly couped and having Western client leaders propped up as active prevention of them potentially posing a threat to Israel or even complaining when they get semi regularly bombed by it.

Israel used to have bipartisan support in the Cold War but those days are long over, and China's got literally no incentive to cosy up to Israel especially in the event of them losing Western support, especially given Israel is already a pariah in the global south.
