The difference between the parts so far has been very odd. Saejima's has the "Majima is dead??? Or is he???" thing going on, while Haruka/Akiyama is like... Haruka's sort-of-adoptive mom for a few months got killed, and maybe figure out what really happened, I guess?

It wasn't really a hard statement, more a point of confusion. Haruka's segment starts a year and a half earlier with Park talking to Kiryu, a bit later Ogita complains that Haruka's the only one that stuck around of all the girls Park brought in during the past six months. Unless there's a lot of time passed between the talk, that'd put the Princess League final at about a year before present day. At least, that's my impression, because they also wouldn't call it "Part 3, First Half" if there wasn't a second half.

It's kind of funny how that moneylender guy just keeps spawning whenever Shinada gets his hands on any amount of money, and part of me wants this to continue. "Thank you for helping me find my lost cat, young man, here's 5000 yen." *yoink* It would probably be very frustrating, but also the universe should keep making GBS threads on him. Also I really hoped he'd fight with an infinite baseball bat like Majima's Slugger style, and now I'm very disappointed.

Not only does he not fight with a bat, but if you pick up a bat during a fight he just puts it back down, refusing to use it for violence. It's a cute character moment but also ten guys are trying to kick my rear end when it happens later

Shinada kinda sucks so far, unlike kei trucks, which are neat as gently caress. You know, I've gone through weird spells in my life, but disappearing so you can get to the bottom of what really happened to a nobody baseball player years ago is something else, definitely not Daigo. Though Absolutely Not Daigo going all "this hyperfixation will fix it" seems very Daigo, and will surely not lead to even bigger problems. I'm still finishing up the last pair of episodes, but yeah this the first time in the series I'm just sitting there thinking "what the gently caress is this poo poo, and when is it over". Shinada's not as funny as the writers think he is. Although I enjoyed IF YOU FISH I WILL DIE. Grace gets how I feel about real life fishing. e: Shinada, thinking as hard as he loving can:

The farm Shinada is talking about probably isn't an actual farm where they grow food farm, but a minor league farm team associated with the big team where the new/junior players have to demonstrate their skills so they can get into the big league. Dan's hooting and hollering really improved these episodes, as I continue not feeling compelled to give a singular gently caress about Shinada. At least Kissinger is rotting in piss now. I do wonder what RGG was thinking when they decided on this. Start with Kiryu, betrayal! in the Tojo, not exactly new but still solid. Then Saejima trying to find out who killed? Majima, so far the strongest point of the game with all the drama with Baba. Then Haruka, kinda different, but interesting in its own right even with Akiyama shoe-horned in, but also after 4 and change games you get to play as Haruka. Then bumbling around as sleazy and annoying failguy.

This remains the grossest chapter in the series, but "Boom and Bust" is a fairly clever name. e: Omori is super overrated and Grace is not missing out on much. It pretends to be symbolic, smart and self-aware but very little of it goes anywhere, the twist is predictable, and the actual gameplay is simplistic to the point of tedium. Let's Play Yakuza 5 Episode 78 - Got Some Salt Let's Play Yakuza 5 Episode 79 - Changing Biomes Okay at the very least we're into some actual plot now  Shinada's in a weird spot where a lot of his combat abilities are based on picking up weapons (his heat actions are way more devastating than the others, for example), but also we couldn't really afford any from a store and the ones we pick up break pretty quick. Without weapons his fighting style is... light on options.His red heat move is incredible though

Interestingly, at the end of Kiryu's chapter, Morinaga told him that he had Aizawa killed and buried on Mt. Somewhere. And yet, Aizawa is very much alive because Morinaga sent him to Tokyo. So Morinaga may have been ruse-cruising everybody, which, given the series this is, wouldn't be a surprise. It's going to be someone manipulating the Omi into a war with the Tojo so they destroy each other or something. Not very well though, prints on the gun and that pin, are too loving obvious even for the likes of Date. Not the cop though I guess, that'd be too obvious, someone has to be pulling his strings.
