I always forget about this line so it's like I discover it anew every year :allears:

Also nthing what was said about THoH V being the best "all killer, no filler" episode but IV and VI being drat drat close.

IV just doesn't land the dismount. The Dracula parody is instantly dated because it uses the '93 movie as an aesthetic base, they don't seem that interested in vampire stuff, and the ending is one of the laziest the Golden Era ever did. "I'm the head vampire" almost works but you can tell all their energy went into the first segment. I get the impression they realized they wrote themselves into a conceptual corner because Mr. Burns is already very classically vampiric but one of his core jokes is that his actual physicality is endearingly pathetic. Making him an actual vampire means the only place you can really go with that is to have him be actually scary and they could never undo that perception once they put it out there.

VI should have started with the Nightmare parody and used the 50 ft eyesores as the middle segment, and I'm going to catch poo poo for this but I never felt Homer^3 was that good. It's memorable and has some great moments, but if we're being truly honest the CGI gimmick is what's carrying it. It holds up better than I thought it would, and I do appreciate that the Simpsons writers took their first (and still only?) shot to shoot live-action footage and used it to film outside a porn shop, but it feels like it's missing an ingredient. Can't put my finger on it.

I was hoping your mentioning of Homer3 missing an ingredient was an intentional play on the fact that it ended with Homer going into an erotic cakes shop but all I can really remember from that sketch is the Tron bit which always kills me.

III is still the first time they stuck the third segment and all three were good. "The Raven" from I was such an odd "we aren't sure about this format yet" choice and loving no one even remembers the "Homer's brain in a Robot" segment from II until you remind them.

I don't know if they did that in the later seasons, but one of the gags in the earlier ToH was they had the dogs playing poker painting, but couldn't show it was too scary so they slapped together the vampire story instead.
