Why did the NYRB vs FC Cincinnati game go to penalties the other day? New to MLS but when I heard that there was a group stage happening I just assumed they did the standard 3/1/0 win/draw/lose points system that, you know, everyone else does when they have a group stage. E: NYRB more like NJRB lol

It's not a group stage because there's only 2 teams involved. The QF round is a best-of-3 knockout where every game has to have a winner and it was decided to skip ET entirely if there's a draw. If you want to know why did this, please refer to the thread title.
