chromium is the reference web browser implementation. if you use something that's out of spec like firefox that's on you

:chedge: is really frustrating to me because there's a really good browser under there, only undermined by executive and mba fuckery. the vertical tab collections work really for organisation and the profiles add a layer to that but after the last update (which it forced me to give the updater admin privileges to do "there might be a problem updating", it says, while refusing to update unless I give privs) it is now trying to push SKYPE of all loving things on me. not even bing chat/copilot. that actually behaved itself and stayed disabled in the transition between the two

in default view everything is fine but as soon as I open my "lab" or "personal" workspace I get goddamn Skype

copilot, nee bing chat before I updated shockingly stayed disabled

cool well I'll just disable Skype in the same place and everything will be fi... :catstare:

oh and while I was writing this I got a popup

I know I have every bit of their (visible) telemetry settings and you just know they consider "got it" consent so I clicked manage setting instead and... :catstare:

they loving enabled it anyway. is this poo poo even legal? if not in the US, then at least EU?

I am really close to deleting this bullshit because the amount of cj-ing I have to do to defeat the endless bullshit is barely worth it

Tl;dr :chedge:

I use Edge for work and Firefox for personal.

Edge making vertical tabs first-class citizens is excellent.

yeah i hear that but it’s not really the chromium/blink part i use it for.

i like the vertical tabs and workspaces in chredge. they are really good for recalling a whole set of apps/infra tabs. safari tab groups are almost the same but, idk, don’t quite rest right with me

maybe browser vendors should take another pass at bookmarking because it hasn't changed since 1994 and the web has

keeping tabs open, sorted, and arranged in one or more windows (especially if they have a hierarchy like tree style tab) is not something that can be directly solved with bookmarks. if it can, then i'm all ears.
