He has never been 1on1 good, but his ability to fill the gaps in guys taking chances on steals and being agressive at the arc, and knowing he was there at the rim to absolutely stop anyone who got by. This year, the defense is "get the gently caress back down the court on offense" and his focus is more shot prevention, playing a bit out so the offense shoots and the Pacers can run, means he is not getting to play to his strengths.

Lakers run decent out of bound plays but they rarely score on them. You notice it when playing a Carlisle team where they run great out of bound plays and usually score on them. E: I mean out of time outs.
