it's $200 to upgrade the ram to 16g and $200 to upgrade to a 512g ssd, and $200 to get the one that actually has normal usb ports on it. that also had the effect of upgrading the cpu or gpu or something but tbh it doesn't matter the base model is kinda sad with the exception of the processor

this is the second imac ms jones has received for christmas. the first one was in 2014, and was a refurbished 2023 model. almost made it a decade on the same computer

Apple at least has availability for a month until Intels next chip will be more powerful at media.

(you know, kinda important in a laptop). my distinctly mid/low range 2021 M1 Pro outperforms my 2019 i7 with radeon 5300m 2x-3x at 1/3-1/4 power consumption in resolve/fusion and the fans on the m1 literally stay at 0 rpm vs the 4000+ rpm of the intel machine. there's bigger number = better than and then there's the reality of using a machine that's a couple of inches thick. this poo poo isn't even close and it's getting less closerer all the time
