I'm loving dead. They tried to make fun of reality and reality said "hold my beer."

Domonique Foxworth always speaks very highly of Shanahan as a coach and on a personal level so I'm sure the team going from that to McDaniels is one hell of a whiplash

That was a really weird deal so I wasn't sure how to handle it. Instead of picking up his fifth-year option (worth ~$20 million), they signed him to a one-year extension worth "up to" $22.5 million. I figured that was basically a wash with still being on his rookie contract.

But giving Jones that contract basically punts two seasons which isn’t eternal damnation or anything but should have the GMs seat scorching hot. Not that anyone could make much out of the pass catchers they have. But the GM is responsible for that trash heap too so not exactly an excuse.

They could have but if I recall he was threatening to hold out if they did plus they needed to use the tag on Saquon. They were in a real lovely negotiating position.

Yeah I can see the argument either way. They could have looked at the bulk of his tape, lolled heartily at a holdout threat and drafted Levis or something. But I also get that dumpstering the guy who just won a playoff game for you is going to be a tough sell to the Maras and WFAN callers. Tagging Jones and giving Barkley a 3 year deal with easy outs feels like the right emotionless game theory move. Docjowles fucked around with this message at 00:08 on Nov 7, 2023 |
