Akihiko's flanderization is, at least partially, because of P4A, a game where he's intentionally running away from his problems and burying himself in shallow justifications to not think through the consequences of his actions. And then you backport it nearly three years of in-universe time and suddenly it doesn't work as well, who'da thunk
