Why would we need a bipedal missile platform that can only be piloted with two pilots who are drift compatible or children? I just don't get it. Every dollar spent on one is one less dollar for space laser satellites.

There’s not really any reason for a military vehicle to be in an anthropomorphic shape. A real mech would be shaped like a cube. You would still need drift-compatible pilots though.
