IIRC the overall plot explicitly takes place in an alternate timeline but specific comments by Boss and other people, although vague and never direct with only one exception, assume you knowing every lategame reveal. EDIT: You access it by a golden digression symbol on the map so it's fairly self contained. It's split into several campaigns with some of them locked behind plot progression and others behind completing campaigns so I don't think you'll get any explicit spoilers, just the iykyk kind because Boss is Boss.
