I'm not ashamed to admit it, and the sort of combined desperation and hope the singer evokes here nails me every drat time. Not a song, but Connie Willis's short story "Adaptation" is my favorite Christmas story and by extension my favorite adaptation of A Christmas Carol". Her story "Epiphany" is my favorite Epiphany story and honestly my favorite short story of hers overall.
