I've never really been into MMORPGs, but FFXI always fascinated me for some reason. I've listened to its various soundtracks on and off and was always like "I bet the version of this game that's in my head is probably way better than it actually exists." Still neat to see it chugging away while basically all other MMOs of its day aside from WoW are dead and gone.

i played a commodore 64 game called fantasy back in the day. mighty oaks from tiny acorns i guess. how do you make a giant ant sound like a dog? hit it with a level 3 fireball and it goes WOOF!

Blitzball could've been cool with a little more effort but you could for example just score 1 goal and then afk behind the net to win every game and that's pretty lovely, the horrible cpu opponents let it down.

It's still pretty funny in online games against real people, in nhl for example you can control the puck for an entire period just loving around with the lead.

FFVII is babby's first Final Fantasy which is fine because for a lot of people it was their first ever RPG, mine included. I still love it and all of its dumb spinoffs (yes, even Dirge of Cerberus) because it reminds me of a time when I had no worries in life other than beating TEIOH with my underlevelled B-class Chocobo. Other than Mystic Quest it's probably the easiest game in the series (unless you count utterly breaking FFVIII's mechanics in the first 30 minutes of gameplay) Three Square RPGs that are better than FFVII: FFVI (obviously) Chrono Trigger Xenogears Secret of Mana

I wish Xenogears got a remaster like Star Ocean 2 did but it'll never happen because Nintendo owns Tetsuya Takahashi now and Square hates the Xeno IP.

Outside of the poster confusing the Roman numerals for 6 and 7, it’s a pretty solid list. I appreciate that 4 is in the middle where it belongs. I’m always puzzled when I see 4 ranked above 5 or claims that 4’s story is great and 5’s sucks. All the story twists in 4 happens during the last 15 minutes to characters who I could not care less about.

FF8 is the game that's really cool to 12 year olds but when you look back it actually sucks rear end. FF7 remains good to this day. The Remake is very good too. 7, 9, X, 6, 8 (this is all I've played of mainline games)

I liked 8 but haven't played it since I was a teenager so I'd probably hate it now. I relayed X not too long ago and it is still a lot of fun.

Maybe it's a hot take but I like all Final Fantasies Maybe not 13, but 13-2 and Lightning Returns rock- and if I were to play 13 on PC, there's probably mods to make it so you can make the Crystarium more bearable. It's good to enjoy things
