They took some core aesthetics for the game to be recognizable, built a functional story around it and filled all the gaps with legitimately solid martial arts. You know what, while I'm at it I will also go to bat for the Resident Evil movies. Those are dumb as poo poo, but I can't help but admire their audacity and complete lack of restraint. Plus, Milla Jovovich.
