Here's another entry into a weird car wreck. Saw this in the morning and figured it was a Donnie true believer wrecking the Colorado Supreme Court, but nope! https://www.denverpost.com/2024/01/02/colorado-supreme-court-breakin-denver-police/ Looks like a dude wrecked in the neighborhood, then threatened the other wrecked car with a gun. Then he went into a nearby building, which just so happened to be the supreme court building, held up a guard for the keys, then went in and hosed poo poo up for some reason. Even shot out the window at the cops! ... Then surrendered. A weird one.

The last time there was a big attack like this in Iran, it was ISIS, the group with the power to unite several competing factions from around the world to hate them. No idea who did this one, but it's not like Iran has only one enemy.

Tell these people to get on board or find a new job, this isn't difficult. https://www.dea.gov/about/dea-leadership e: Had not heard of Milgram before. The 10 year gap in her resume on her official page? She was helping design pretrial detention advisory tools that later turned out to be extremely racist, then spent some time defending white collar criminals. Then she got appointed to head of DEA. AreWeDrunkYet posted:These folks follow orders from Biden, right? So this response means the administration is not making marijuana scheduling a priority? It says that they're in the process of making a decision and they don't want to tip their hand either way about what they're thinking. Either you piss of the President, HHS, a large bipartisan segment of the American public, and Public Policy wonks, or you piss off Federal Law Enforcement, Many state law enforcement agencies, and a bunch of crusty old shitheads who love Prohibition. Either way for an organization like the DEA its going to be a painful transaction.
|
# ? Jan 3, 2024 22:11 |

That honestly seems like hand-waving. Descheduling marijuana is extremely popular, and legally is there anything preventing Biden from forcing the changes through or ordering the people running DEA to do so under threat of dismissal? If the senate wants to prevent an appointment based on keeping weed illegal, let them at it during an election year. e: Same goes for courts. Undoing federal legalization should be great for their popular legitimacy.

AreWeDrunkYet posted:legally is there anything preventing Biden from forcing the changes through or ordering the people running DEA to do so under threat of dismissal? I believe the answer is "it depends", like most dumb legal poo poo. Donnie really, really liked to do things this way, by declaring what to do with government regulations, telling his appointees what to do, then they'd do it. Then it would be reversed by the courts due to Administrative Procedure Act violations. A lot like the Census's citizenship question that was pushed through, then killed by the courts because Donnie and his fuckers skipped steps. So foot-dragging is a component, as is an unwillingness to use federal executive power. But, another component is doing things the "correct" way according to usual procedure so the rescheduling wouldn't get overturned. I tend to think it's more foot-dragging though!
