https://www.wndu.com/2024/01/10/indiana-files-bill-removing-transgender-recognition-updates-definition-marriage/

House Bill 1291, authored by Representative Chris Judy, R-Allen County, replaces the term “gender” with the phrase “biological sex” for statutes in which the term is used to describe the condition of being physically male or female. This includes documentation such as a driver’s license or state identification card. It would also apply in the case of sex discrimination, benefits, and services.

The bill also seeks to change the state’s stance on gay marriage by stating that marriage is “between one man and one woman.” Per the bill, any other marriage “is void in Indiana even if the marriage is lawful in the place where it is solemnized.”

More lovely things out of Indiana.

Given that Gay Marriage is settled Federally - LMAO good loving luck, bigots.

Remember all that “employee shortage” bullshit as American employees realized they had the leverage to make some demands about wages and working conditions but our glorious job creators cried to the media about their margins? It turns out that a white hot labor market attracts people from outside the country too, and when the last few decades of US foreign policy have systematically undermined stability in Central America, an influx of immigrants willing to take the risk of undocumented migration or claiming asylum is the natural conclusion.

As always, the only way to do anything about this is to address the root cause - meaningfully penalize the people fraudulently hiring people. This would of course crash profits in agriculture, construction, and a few other sectors, and maybe even bankrupt or imprison some business owners, so everyone quietly pretends it isn’t an option. And the raging racism on the right means that normalizing the level of migration that we need for ongoing growth is also off the table. The only option left is getting angry at the most vulnerable people around for trying to feed their families, and upending their lives in every way possible.

Well and a large part is seasonal workers too that used to come and stay or a season then return. Anti-immigration laws have made it impossible for them to come and go.

Delusional is a strong word. Russia’s fancy stuff doesn’t work right now and the Stark attack, while almost 40 years ago and not an AEGIS destroyer, showed that USN ships might not be as good as “advertised”.

.....I suspect a Reagan era attack has little bearing on the readiness of modern US destroyers, and the issue was less around the destroyer and more around its current state, it was not expecting nor watch for an attack and most of its any missile systems stayed in standby until second before it hit. Not really relevant.

Those things are usually heavier than an SUV and its generally low to the ground to keep it stable on loose soil. They start at 5,000 lbs and only get significantly heavier, up to 12,000 lbs.

Oh trust me - the Pilots were aware, there's tons of sensors for fire and I doubt the engine was running properly and was showing it on the instruments.

I’m referring to articles like this:

Economists say the economy is good, individuals who have to deal with rampant profiteering on basic necessities say it’s bad and also bad for them.

The disconnect in economic indicators and public opinion doesn’t exist in Europe and didn’t used to exist in the US. My pet theory is people in the US either used to have the illusion that economic success was distributed more evenly or it actually was distributed more evenly. It may be different in Europe or Europeans might just be in denial (but probably the former since they get to have things like healthcare and vacations).

Because the target audience for American facing Economists isn't individuals - its investors and biz leaders who are not hurting. Everyone else can get hosed.

Trump org NY Civil Case is in the judge's hands, ruling could come down any day.

DC J6/Insurrection is on hold pending the Appeals Court deal on Presidential Immunity. Been weird that the 3-judge panel is taking so long, some opinion or another is being written. Could be dragged out en banc and to the Supreme Court. Could also clusterfuck based on the SC read of the obstruction of an official proceeding charge. Expect that in the summertime.

The Georgia RICO case is basically clusterfucked due to idiot prosecutors, don't expect that this year.

Florida classified documents is going to get delayed by the chudge to 2025 easily. To some extent that's normal for federal cases, but she's chudging too.

NY on the porn money payoff is up in the air, as they're mostly deferring to the more potent DC stuff.

The Georgia case is likely in the clear because it turns out the claim about the lead prosecutor being in a divorce hearing with the other prosecutor is false, they released the unsealed docs today.

It was always just a long shot by Trump's lawyers

It's been pretty well established for a while that the only meaningful asset trump has is the 5th avenue tower he sold off his inheritance to buy. Pretty much every other business venture in his lifetime (casinos, airlines, football, MLMs, education, etc, etc) has been a failure financed by mortgaging that property further, but he has had the good fortune that NYC real estate has gotten more valuable faster than he has been able to lose money. Licensing his name and doing TV shows brought in cash, but it was never sustainable revenue, and most of his golf courses are barely break-even except where he uses them to launder donations. This defamation judgment and NYC fraud case have a serious chance to tear down the whole shoddy mess.

And he has a long and storied history of poor spending and saving habits.

Lmao those data centers maybe have that many people working on them during construction but it's a tiny number of computer janitors and facility maintenance people there on a daily basis once they're up and running.

A lot of them its just a handful of security guards, maybe 1-2 computer janitors and an occasional ISP technician.

I love datacenters.
