Isn’t it to the defense’s benefit that the prosecution keeps filing while the stay is in place?

The stay isn’t like a stop work order. It’s not forbidden for either side to spend time on their case. So the alternative that Donnie is ostensibly asking for would have the prosecution still working in the background and, if Trump lost on the immunity argument, the prosecution would have a backlog of material to file in short order.

This would clearly be worse for the defense than the prosecution submitting documents as they go.

And that's the other thing about "the economy is great, all the signs are pointing up up up!!" It will just get used as an argument to wind down financial support for people, further slash welfare, etc. After all, things are good again! Why would we ever need things like expanded unemployment? People are just lazy and not working!

It’s deeply shameful that twice as many children live in poverty as did in 2021.

2017 Trump for comparison,

quote:

I said, “You don’t use steam anymore for catapult?” “No sir.” I said, “Ah, how is it working?” “Sir, not good. Not good. Doesn’t have the power. You know the steam is just brutal. You see that sucker going and steam’s going all over the place, there’s planes thrown in the air.”

It sounded bad to me. Digital. They have digital. What is digital? And it’s very complicated, you have to be Albert Einstein to figure it out. And I said—and now they want to buy more aircraft carriers. I said, “What system are you going to be—” “Sir, we’re staying with digital.” I said, “No you’re not. You going to goddamned steam, the digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and it’s no good.”

I'll note that he had 70% way early on. He's hovering at around 50% now with Haley and DeSantis fighting for first loser.

There’s this media narrative that if all the other candidates drop out, the lone survivor against Trump could beat him

They said the same thing in 2016, and the same reality existed then: the second choice of a lot of Haley/DeSantis/&c. voters is Donald Trump himself.

As candidates drop out, Trump’s share of the votes increases by a substantial amount.

Their best shot in 2016 was arguably to keep everyone in and go to a brokered convention, but even that wouldn’t work now.
