And most of the IRA's money was also aimed at expanding renewable capacity without providing much for maintenance for distribution or transmission companies. Other than tax deductions for maintenance costs, there's no structural or programmatic incentive for utilities to spend a lot on it. Which is unfortunate. It's almost as if the government should run the utilities themselves.

If our landlord sells, my wife and I are gonna be forced to move back home with one of our families because wr absolutely cannot afford a higher rent at our salaries. We'd be hosed.
