New Year's resolution- buy a dog, buy a car, get a promotion, lose weight, be more present for my family, keep sports fandom at a proper sardonic distance.

Off to a good start on the last bit. Roll Tide.

Anyone here from Nashville? Wife and I are thinking of going in March and we want to know what's fun to do there.

Country Music Hall of Fame for sure. Catch a Predators game while you're there too (best hockey atmosphere I've ever seen). There'll be tons of live music downtown any given night of the week. Just hop bars until you find something you like. Avoid the big-name clubs owned by country stars.

If you like bourbon, take a few tours. A day trip south to Tullahoma (George Dickel) and Lynchburg would be worth it. Jack Daniels isn't a particularly good bourbon, but their tour is absolutely one of the best you'll see.

Flight from Mobile to Charlotte on a little Embraer tin can, got to cruising altitude and ripped the longest, loudest fart in years. Surrounded by skinny women so I was instantly the suspect. Just put on a dumb, ignorant smile for the rest of the flight and tried to ignore the visual daggers.

Scoped out the gate that the OKC flight is leaving from in 4 hours. Looked behind and one of them saw me there and silently did the arms down gesture of "you have got to be kidding me"

In seriousness, that would require them to ever not prioritize corporate interests(in this case, the freight companies that own most of the actual rail lines and prioritize themselves over passenger cars even though [IIRC] they're not supposed to) and invest in rail infrastructure and better trains. I'm not a train nerd but I briefly wondered how if one of these mega-billionaires was and instead of building his own space rockets, he bought like CSX or something and tried to make them good

Then I realized this is pretty much step one to how people have a framed photo of Steve Jobs or pay 8 bucks a month for a blue check.

My school didn't have famous murders. It had a curse.

We were the first students at Challenger Junior High. As we started getting bumped off, the word spread that it wouldn't end until seven of us were dead before graduation. Becky (can't remember her last name) got her spine severed when her boyfriend did an illegal U-turn in a Suzuki Samurai and they got t-boned. Andy Skidmore hung himself. Jacob Silva plowed his mom's station wagon into the side of a flatbed trailer and got a to-the-shoulders haircut. (Rest in Piss- he was a bullying piece of poo poo) Dennis H burned to death in his VW van, possibly from suicide, possibly from owning a VW van.

I left Cali after 10th grade. Good luck with that poo poo, chumps!

You pull up a half-mile from In N Out and get in the line that's backed up to the offramp. It takes you 30 minutes to get your food. The burger is fantastic and the fries are terrible.

You pull up behind the one other car in the Whataburger drive-thru. It takes you 30 minutes to get your food. The burger is pretty good and the fries are decent.

pulled customer down, named Adolph Something. Born in 1944. I wondered how the hell the dad decided to name him that. Then I noticed his dad was named Adolph.

That dad said "gently caress the war, this kid's gonna be a Junior".

Called him to the window.

He was black.

Imagine a black kid in Jim Crow 1950s Alabama with that name, and practically every white authority figure you have to deal with is a veteran.

But he is this year anyway, so employees and their families can park right on the parade route trouble-free. Our new DM is loving awesome.
