I haven't been in these threads for the past few years but here's something interesting I found (also looked the name of this up in SA's search just to check to see if it got posted before and it seemingly hasn't in these threads): The Fantastic Funnies, a tv special from 1980 (produced by the people who made the Peanuts specials) going over various popular comic strips of the time, including the very first animated appearance of Garfield; features a bunch of comics you probably wouldn't have heard of if it weren't for these threads.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnZodlc0UyE

This swings violently back and forth between fun (some of the animated bits, the Johnny Fever sketch), meh (other animated bits), interesting (the cartoonist interviews), and extremely cringe-inducing (the songs, particularly the "four little boxes" one at the end).

Thanks for posting it!

It is remarkable how quickly he slipped back into it. It really seems to be the only thing he can write.

The thing is, I don't mind the Randy-voice here. Probably because this isn't supposed to be based on the century-long-established Mickey Mouse characters, he's explicitly branching off from the very start in a different direction, for humorous effect. And you know what? It works for me.

If, instead, he'd been handed a normal Mickey strip to run in newspapers, this poo poo wouldn't fly, the same way it isn't flying in Popeye.

That's the funniest panel in today's funnies.

But -- and someone correct me if I'm wrong here -- Belluso has nothing to be on the run from, other than his own embarrassment at being caught plagiarizing. The whole attempted-murder thing has been dealt with, and he got off super light because he had turned over a new leaf. Buzzy never pressed charges about the kidnapping/car trunk incident. The original author was more than willing to sell the rights to the Mirakle people, the other two of whom are still happily making money with it. They might not like Rene much anymore, but legally, everyone's now in the clear. Belluso could stand up in the audience and announce his identity and no one could touch him. He might even still have a valid stake in the Mirakle company that they formed.

I'm giving this one a 95% accuracy score. Ceiling screens aren't the norm but you could arrange a projector like that, and even screencast ebooks to it if you want. The biggest ding to accuracy is from the text being shown, which says that anyone who wants to will be able to go to college with minimal financial hardship. :(
