HM: Zack Sabre Jr.(c) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi for the New Japan Television Title - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 1/4
Best match that Tanahashi has had in ages, and not just because human socialist octopus Zack Sabre Jr. is incredible (which he is) - the 15 minute time limit really works to both their advantage in terms of pacing.
HM: Shingo Takagi (C) vs. Tama Tonga for the Never Openweight Title - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 1/4
I knew the match would be good but also felt like I'd already seen all they had to offer in a match against each other. But the setting made all the difference, crowd was hot and both guys were giving it their all. Right on the edge of MOTYC for me.
MOTYC: Hiromu Takahashi (C) vs. El Desperado for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 1/4
It's two of the best Junior Heavyweight wrestlers in the world fighting for the title at Wrestle Kingdom, and it absolutely lives up to the hype.
HM: Will Ospreay (C) vs. Jon Moxley vs. David Finlay for the IWGP Global Championship - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 1/4
This was kind of incredible in the sense that they did absolutely everything they could to ruin this match on multiple occasions and somehow it kept being fantastic regardless until the end result was the least interesting person in the match and in his own faction winning the title.
MOTYC: Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 1/4
Two of the best to ever do it, doing it at the highest level. An absolutely incredible experience.
HM: SANADA (C) vs. Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 1/4
It suffered from having to follow Danielson/Okada, and I know that some people were feeling less than enthusiastic about this as a main event, but I dig both guys and I like the storyline of former stablemates who had a mostly amicable parting but now are competing for the top spot in the company. Match built really well and had a fantastic finish, helped by a very, very, very hot crowd.

But I was really surprised by the finish, it felt like they could've gone another ten minutes no problem. Maybe they're saving something for a rubber match, I dunno.

What is a battle of the belts?
An extra hour sometimes appended to AEW programming where the gimmick is that every match is a championship match.
Titles almost never change (because you know it's a weird contractual obligation hour) but the matches themselves can be very good as having an entire hour for like 3 matches gives them a lot of time.

- DDT's former ace pulling out all the stops to try to keep down All Japan's future ace
Yuki Ueno (c) vs HARASHIMA - KO-D Openweight Title
- loving insane that Harashima has been around since the attitude era and is still putting on such amazing performances, it's no wonder he was the ace before Takeshita. Ueno is Ueno, he's a supremely talented young man who i'm terrified is going to get fumbled any day now by the company after spending so long as an almost ran. Even after more than 5 hours of DDT this match absolutely ruled, absolutely watch this one as well if you're only tuning in for Takeshita vs Aoyagi

Sanshiro Takagi vs Ken Ohka
- This was way better than I was expecting, such great fire between two guys way past their prime
Shunma Katsumata (c) vs Hideki Okatani - Painful Jungle Death Match for the DDT Extreme Title
- loving gnarly, such tonal whiplash between To-y looking so happy in his little plush hat and Okatani bleeding buckets from a gusset plate to the forehead
Burning (Tetsuya Endo and Yuki Iino) (c) vs New Period (Ryuki Honda and Yuma Anzai) - KO-D Tag Titles
- Heckin rad to see the All Japan boys come to enemy territory, even cooler that the fans were into them
Much like last year's Judgement the first couple of hours are largely skippable but goddamn did it pick up in the second half

Purely as a match AEW vs. CMLL was only a HM for me but with the molten hot crowd it crossed the line.
With only a little background knowledge to provide context, the Rocky Romero tag team match is amazing.

- gently caress me I was so invested in the stongest idol facing down the final boss of TJPW, finish was a little flat for me but everything else was magnificent

- Pure silliness, had me chuckling left and right
Rika Tatsumi vs Masha Slamovitch
- Masha's been great in teej, she and Rika worked really well together
Kyoraku Kyomei (Hyper Misao and Shoko Nakajima) vs Aja Kong and Max the Impaler
- KK bumping their assess off to make their opponents look like absolute monsters and also Kong got run over with the Battle Bike, what's not to love
Minoru Suzuki vs Maki Itoh
- You could tell Suzuki was having the time of his life here just being the biggest prick on earth

Agree on the main event finish just being a tad flat, everything leading up to it was great though.

Emi Sakura vs. Yuka Sakazaki
Starts fast and furious, but Yuka busts her leg on an early botch and is limping. Emi has to carry the heat and interest for the whole match and by the end the crowd is chanting for Yuka even though she's barely done anything.
Props to both for being absolute pros the whole way through.

Haven't watched the latest Dynamite yet but just so I can manage my expectation of the show: Without spoilering too much, why did the Copeland Vs. Buddy match go from good to WMOTYC?
it was a very "very good" WWE tv match not an AEW match
randy orton match was the comparison people made in the GDT
it only intermittently had any heat especially considering the length of the match
edit: if I showed you clips of the crowd reaction to Willow vs. Sky and the Copeland vs. Buddy, you'd think that Copeland was the one that went last on a 3 hour show.
