That was a good first episode. Despite my hesitation about the new voting format, I feel like they got the tops and the bottoms correct. The top 3 were my favorite of the episode. Shocked that we're getting a 40 minute Untucked tonight, maybe lots of extra Charlize Theron? I always feel bad when they do a split premiere and the first group gets a guest judge who is a substantially much bigger deal than the guest judge in the second episode.

Based on this episode, my favorites from this group were Plain Jane and Nymphia Wind, but holy poo poo is Plain Jane the most obvious heel the show has had in a while? We've had villains in the last few years, but most of them never intended to come off that way. Jane seems to know exactly what she's doing. Megami does not seem like she'll stick around for very long. Creative, but does not seem to have any showmanship. I still don't know who Becky G is, at least she seemed to be having fun.

But for quite a long time now, contestants on reality shows have become hyperaware of how they'll be edited, and perceived on social media. I can't really recall a classic reality tv villain on any show in a long time. There have been some people who became villains without realizing that they were, but nobody who has gone into a show at the start planning on playing the role of the heel. So in a way it's kind of refreshing to see someone just going for it. But we've only been with her for one episode. We'll have to see.

Given how much I see Meatball on social media lately, I sometimes wonder if she'd ever been on Drag Race, but no. Looking at her wikipedia, apparently she was on season 1 of Dragula, which is the only season I've seen, and I don't really remember anyone except for the hosts. Has she ever said she would go on Drag Race? Does WoW have a ban on anyone who first appeared on Dragula? I know some Ru girls have gone on to do Dragula, but haven't heard of the reverse.

So, I saw on twitter this morning, don't have the link sorry, that it seems like Amanda and Jane are cool now. Roscoe's, a gay bar in Chicago, is the home club for Naysha Lopez who hosts a Drag Race viewing party each week, and regularly has Drag Race alumni to comment on the episodes. Apparently Amanda was there two weeks ago, and they did not publicly reveal that Jane was there in the audience to support her. They said at last week's show that Jane requested that they not announce that she was there, although people did spot her, and were taking photos and video of her. She seemed to take it all in stride even though Amanda was trashing Jane's behavior on the show.

I was surprised that Nymphia wasn't in the top, she turned out another amazing look, that I wonder if it was just because it didn't fit production's narrative for the season to put her in the top if she wasn't going to win. I didn't get Dawn's look at all, I thought it looked cheap and gaudy, so I was shocked that they put her in the top. Glad Q finally got her win, I thought it was strange last week that she was even in the bottom. Anyway I think there are a lot of great queens this season, but a lot of cannon fodder, hopefully those on the bottom step it up during Snatch Game.

So, I watched the first season of Canada, the first season of Netherlands, the first 4 seasons of UK, the first season of Down Under, the first season of UK vs the World, before turning off Canada season 2 and Canada v the World season 1 halfway through because I thought they were boring. I haven't watched any other international editions, but I got drag race fatigue for a while, and I was frustrated with the winners of UK season 3 and UK v the World season 1. If I resubscribe to WoW, which 5 seasons should I watch next?

I don't know, nobody did particularly bad. The worst runway was probably Xunami, but it seemed pretty clear that the bottom 2 was decided based on history in the game, and while the safe queen did some pretty egregious errors during the lip sync, it was still a more interesting performance than the eliminated queen.

A Snatch Game win is a major turning point for a queen. It doesn't always predict a win for the final crown, but it looks great on your resume. But because of this win, I think I might actually think I'm Team Plane Jane. But I'm still living for Sapphira and Nymphia. I thought Sapphira and Mhiya stood a very good chance at winning though. That said, I don't think either of the bottom two deserved to be in the bottom two, and I'm confused to as why Dawn and Q weren't in the bottom given that they didn't seem to get a single laugh. Morphine actually did get laughs, her problem was just that they became repetitive. Plasma and Nymphia also didn't seem to get any laughs, but they were at least committed to the characters. I can't believe we had to wait until season 16 for that song though. Goth next week!

It's not a big bar, and lines aren't really a thing at DC bars, so we knew we weren't going to get inside in time to see her. To me, this suggests that Nymphia is really connecting with fans in a way that I haven't seen with another contestant in a while.

Sapphira and Q's look didn't exactly read as goth to me. While I'm happy for the winner, I think Plane Jane or Dawn should have taken the win. But yeah, the final 3 are pretty obvious, and have been for several episodes. It's just a matter of who takes that 4th spot.
