They had to go with the two armies completely culled for the Old World and couldn't really do two similar undead armies at the start.

I was listening to a hobby channel who were saying, and I reckon they’re right, tow is going to replace Lord of the Rings at GW.

The licensing is beginning to come to an end, and production and releases have been low but scheduled.

Tow slots in very nicely as a replacement for it from a production and design standpoint. Once they have the launch boxes and initial year of splash releases done, they can keep the game ticking along with occasional character sculpts and scenario books that are 50 pages just like the new army lite books.

Saves on licensing, lets them keep their setting going, allows them to reap the benefits of licensed games or 3rd party content etc.

Seems pretty bang on.

People have been periodically predicting the death of LotR for 10+ years now. It's current starter box is barely a year old and had enough demand that they did two separate pre order periods.

Doesn't Warcry, Underworlds and Killteam all count as specialist games too?

And I'm not sure the specialist games of 15+ years ago really should count since they were almost all made under a two years of support then make way for the next game model that was created as a lifeline after GorkaMorka nearly bankrupted the company.

I mean I definitely get the hesitancy, it's why I didn't pick anything up yet. I'm actually thinking of just getting the rules and picking up four of those DnD figure cases Ollie's is selling for $3 and playing with those.

Do you mean designed for 8th? Because Varanguard came out in 2015 alongside the AoS Archaon army book.

I'll give this to TOW, it made me pull the trigger on the Anvilgard SC box and a few last Dark Elf kits before they disappeared off the internet.

They should just say scree it and bring back the limited edition models as MTO. There's a fee Games Day ork bosses and the one from the WAR collector's box that would be good candidates

Are repeater crossbows/ballista in the main book? I don't see any reference to their stats in the pdf and from I remember Drk Elves were the ones that got them.

Yeah, vampires being wizards kind of took a back seat in 7 th when they nerfed dance macabre.

No, it was in the army books for 4th and 6th edition. You were allowed to mix and match but it had to be a 50/50 split. I believe it was crossbows and spears only though.

Yeah, the fourth Ed book is the one I'm thinking of, it never mandated how you had too split, just casualties removed from front. I had the original release of 6th book (without the border) and city guard weren't there. Were they added back in the re-released buff version?

I'll have to double check my copy. I picked it up at the 6th edition launch at Games Day 2000 when the line got its relaunch.

I still have a ton of the 6th edition metal results of the corsairs and witches. Made sure to get the alt sculpts of the corsair leader with the dragon cloak wrapped around the face and the executioner axe. That was straight up the best model at the time.

Depends on the pot type, the plastic pots with the snap lid should be mostly ok, a few formula would have separated. Bolter shell pots are likely deadee than disco.

See, I'd heard about that too but what's funny is that Store A (the shipment issue place) actually shows up on my credit card as "Games Workshop" so man, I have no idea! I mean, GW doesn't run though like Diamond or Alliance or anyone, right? They ship direct if I'm not mistaken? I can't really imagine any scenario that would cause this outside of the GW shipments being COD and them just uh...not having money on hand to pay it. I dunno if that's the case with GW or not, but it WAS the case with Diamond back when I own a comic shop in the 90s.

I think GW also goes through distributors. Or at least they used to. They used to have a reputation of fulfilling direct orders before distributors, effectively pushing LGSs that didn't work directly through them

Not necessarily, it's not like a routing center, a store will whichever distributor offers them a better deal on their money items. Or, in way too many cases, whichever ones they don't have an outstanding debt with.

A few years ago a friend of mine nearly lost his store when WotC signed an exclusivity deal with a distributor he happened to owe about $5k to. Dude was barely able to work out a payment plan in time to get product for the next set.

Just there aren't current plans doesn't mean it won't happen. There's a long lead time on a new range and they wouldn't commit the capitol on it until they know the legs on the new game. Especially when their manufacturing capability is stretched between AoS 4th coming this summer supporting 40k 10th.

I feel like the supply issues aren't just a release thing. How much stuff on their website is forever "Not in Stock?" Hell, I'm fairly certain Doomfire Warlocks have basically been out of print since the first Khaine release in AoS. It absolutely boggles my mind that they can't keep poo poo they control in stock and seem to refuse to restock it in any meaningful way. I would be worried about this killing the enthusiasm for the game but my LGS ran a night full of OW games with people basically over the moon about it. People are absolutely hungry for this and hopefully GW will feed that hunger.

Brexit, it's a multi year gently caress up. GW prints the models in house but get most of their paper products (like boxes, rulebook and manuals) from printers in China. It's why you see a lot of not available kits showing up in the bundle boxes like the Doomfires or the Gobbapalooza

How do you feel about epubs? They put the game up on their digital store, probably because of the shortages.

Last I checked there were 4-5 copies in the various LGS's around me too. I can check if they're still there.
