It's also happened multiple times this season already and yes they clearly want you to be unsure as to the nature of reality. It's already been laid out as one of the themes of the season. Isolated at the end of the world in endless night. Is reality really unraveling here or is it a case of the environment they're in? So this trick is to make the audience just as unsure as the characters.
