DDRmax2. That's the right choice. That's the one I use to play and that's the one I got the songs for when I decided to start playing it again (ITGmania). I still suck. Yep. Think I'll try Mario DDR tomorrow.

I had the GameCube mario DDR mat a long time ago and wish I still did. Like Guitar Hero, I thought they were just gonna keep making DDR forever and that I'd always be able to get a new or even upgraded home mat down the line

Use Stepmania (or one of the other ones I went with ITGmania). Buy a new mat. Buy a nicer mat and use an adapter (usb to gamecube is probably a thing that exists). The best investment I ever made was a metal dance pad for about 500 dollars. I've got 2000+ songs logged in StepMania. I dance on that poo poo every single day. It keeps me fit. e: I tried to play Doom on it. On the easiest difficulty I was able to beat the first level! e2: Captain Jack easily beats anything else

My friend group pooled our money fifteen years ago and got two of them. One of us was at the classic chill parents open door hang out house, so we kept them there with a sound system and Stepmania hooked up. Probably put thousands of hours into those things.
