There is almost no way for this to go that badly. Either Cody is really good and opts out after the first year or he's not and it's only a 3/80 contract which is really not much for the Cubs.

Personally I wish it was a longer guaranteed contract cause I want my good friend Cody to stay in Chicago but it's a sensible contract for both sides and I'm just glad he's back.

Bellinger and Chapman signed deals worth 10s of millions of dollars with opt outs almost every year, that's pretty good. For a guy like Bellinger that is a good deal if he plays at the level he did last season he stands to make even more money, it's simultaneously a good deal for the Cubs cause 3/80 isn't gonna limit them that much. He also seemed to really enjoy playing for the Cubs so he even ended up back on a team he wanted to be with.

I'm not sure if that's better or worse. At best it's tone deaf to previous protests surrounding pro athletes kneeling during the anthem.

Pro athletes are probably the only people for whom eating McDonalds every day is actually fine cause they are burning so many calories it doesn't really matter. The main issue is probably the amount of salt but hey, electrolytes.

Those Bananas tickets are secondary market? On their website they say tickets start at 35$ the problem being it's a lottery to be able to buy tickets directly from them as there is a huge amount of people signed up.

I just assumed the sticking point for teams signing Snell was he wanted a longer deal. 2/60 is a no brainer for any team competing, which makes me suspicious if that is real.

If Bote cant get regular playing time we ought to trade him. He has the tools to play somewhere in the MLB but there just isn't a great option for him on the Cubs right now.
