Just watching some clips and it’s insane how bad the tiny jersey lettering looks during live game action.

my partner and I are staying in Pittsburgh on April 7th and will go to the Pirates/Orioles game before driving to see the eclipse the following morning. if we're in town just for that Sunday (I can maybe swing Saturday evening if there's a good reason), what are one or two cool Pittsburgh things we should look at doing after the game? museums, parks, bars, galleries, restaurants, whatever you got

Pittsburgh rules. The National Aviary was really cool, but I dunno if the operating hours would fit in your plan. Honestly, just walking around downtown in the area around the point is beautiful and you could stumble across whatever restaurants pique your interest. The area just north of the park with all of the historic row houses is beautiful. We had a great time at the Carnegie Science Center even though a lot of it is for kids. We didn’t have time for the Warhol Museum but it seemed like a good, not overly-long experience, as well.

Yeah. Everyone was talking all off-season about how they thought he wanted a $100 million contract and had too much uncertainty around him still to get it. This is where he was going to settle at. He had a great year, but is still one year removed from being absolute dogshit. Nobody wants to throw 5 years, $115 mill or whatever at that.

players also only get a share of the first four games of a seven game series, so that they don’t have financial incentive to throw games and prolong the series for more money

Cause apparently thats a thing owners worried about

This makes total sense from a gambling perspective. Just think of it as a flat fee for the series.

Weird that the Cubs social media department didn’t decide to use the unreadably small new nameplate on that graphic.

It's too bad the Cubs signed a million mediocre corner infielders instead of a million mediocre corner outfielders.

This is pretty cool. I was at trivia last night and there was a catagory for Women in Baseball that I am happy to say I nailed. I forgot Kim Ng was GM of the Marlins but got there via context clues.

This is also how I learned that the word umpire is derived from the Old French word for Arbitration.

As a man who runs an independent weekly bar trivia night that I try to make approachable for casuals but hard enough to be competitive, drat that trivia sounds hard. What’s the context?

All the categories were themed for International Women's Month. That category was just simply Women in Baseball. They even had a question referencing a lady knuckleballer but it wasn't Yoshida.

That sounds rad as hell. But drat, how big of nerds are this crowd? I play Learned League online, and this seems like that level of difficulty.

lol like the tenth hammy injury for Madrigal, at some point the Cubs need to accept his legs are made of hopes and dreams and move on.

Dogshit news for Kilian though, looked like he was finally starting to make things click.

Aside from Stroman, I feel like the Cubs were pretty lucky on the injury front last year. I have a bad feeling that will not be the case this season.
