Serious question, how much more production has Barkley produced than your average 4th round (or lower) RB drafted in the last decade?

Your average one or your average one whose name you remember because of overperformance

Signing a bunch of marginal guys to one year deals was the plan in 2023 so I guess we're continuing on that path

Considering the Texans are in year 2 of Stroud they were in perfect position to overpay Saquon for three seasons

And this is supposed to be a pretty bad RB class in the draft isnt it?

yes

Entering the offseason I really wanted him back, but I guess the moves the Texans made rendered him redundant

e: actually it looks like they did want him back but the Bengals outbid them, he got 2/26, the Texans offered 2/24

must have wanted him back pretty badly because that would've eaten up the majority of the remainder of their cap space

The Texans are going for it, as they should be. They might be the second best team in the AFC on paper, and they have a better roster than the Chiefs outside of, you know, Patrick Mahomes.

They still have a lot to prove before I'd go that far. Ravens and Chiefs are both ahead of them until proven otherwise, maybe the Bills but who knows with all the players they hemmhoraged this offseason

This is still a team that lost to the Panthers last year

I wouldn't say there's a huge gulf between Butker and Fairbairn at this point. Fairbairn has improved significantly over the last few years

e: granted Butker has been great for longer and kickers can be fungible
