The Bills window is opening; they're going to replace Diggs with someone who can do more than 48Y/G and zero touchdowns in the playoffs..... (average since 2021. )

I was being a bit facetious, and I do fear the massive amount of the old guard that need to be replaced is going to require an unobtainable hit rate for a single off-season. But it's genuinely hard to look at Post Season Diggs and make an argument for him being a big factor in being able to win playoff games. The teams weren't even having to double team him any more (why Gabe looked good in that four TD game).

Gully Foyle posted:They've easily had top 10 ranked defenses for the last three seasons, it's just gone downhill by the time the postseason arrived due to injuries, and then they run into the Chiefs everytime (ok, they also ran into the Bengals). I mean, the Bills are cursed so it doesn't matter, but they have absolutely been a contender. 22: Injuries and the Hamlin situation meant the team was burnt out. Plus Frazier still wasn't the right playcaller for the playoffs 23: You're not going to beat KC with a geriatric retired LB covering Kelce. McD is a much better playcaller than Frazier, especially in the playoffs. But he deserves criticism for doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results with regards to having a geriatric retired LB covering Kelce. I don't think the defence is in too bad a position for the upcoming season. To avoid being bad they need to hit on starting safeties, but are largely set outside of depth. They still need a finisher on the DL (given the VM gamble was derailed by injuries) but that's more an issue for stepping up in the playoffs than the regular season. I'm hopeful that Bobby Babbich is going to deliver as a DC; every position he has had a hand in as delivered. In the face of injuries, him and McD managed to turn Dodson in to player that PFF thought was the second best LB and whom the Seahawks want to pay $4m. If nothing else, I'm looking forward to Milano-Bernard terrorising other teams.

But a Bills 6th round pick isn't sexy for the social media team i guess Also Elam. gently caress KC jumping Beane for McDuffie....

Beane did hit on the Beasley+Diggs combo, plus the flattering-to-deceive Gave, which let him tinker around the edges. (6th on McCloud, 7th on Austin Proehl, 4th on Davis, 6th on Hodgins, 6th on Marquez Stevenson, 5th on Shakir, 5th on Shorter) . He just seems to have been reluctant and slow to invest once Beasley started to decline and it became evident that Gabe wasn't growing in to a WR1. The farce of having to get Beasley and Brown back for the playoffs two years ago really should have Brady must really like Curtis Samuel.

Although they had a bunch of draft picks, they were mostly day 3. I think missing out on that third round comp pick left Beane without draft capital to be aggressive, and it seems none of the other GMs were inclined to play ball with what he did have. He reportedly tried to trade up in the third and got no bites; perhaps there was another WR he was targetting. Next year they should have an additional second round pick and two extra in the 4th (if the NFL don't gently caress the comp picks again), so I would expect an aggressive Beane. If the Vikings suck, they could have picks 32 and 33....
