People teaching English as a Learned Language have a whole class devoted to the word.

One by one, instructors work with students, skirting around what the word might be, without actually saying it, until, at last, the dawn of recognition crosses the student's face like a putrid sunrise. The student reacts with a mixture of shock, disgust, and anger. The instructor nods, gravely, pats them on the back, and moves on to the next desk, leaving each student to contend with the torment of their new fragile emotional state.
