My main take on Undisputed Kingdom is that they were stuck in a really awkward position at the start of the year. They couldn't run wild over the whole company, because they were fundamentally not popular enough to justify doing that. But also, they couldn't be immediately swallowed up by the consequences of their actions, because without Adam Cole as a hot act to anchor them they would have been utterly destroyed and all we would have gotten from that whole arc would have been Roderick Strong and Matt Taven being nobodies in AEW. So, they spun their wheels for a few months and hoped no one would notice because the rest of the show has been loving great. I personally feel like they managed to thread the needle and make UK a decent mid-card heel faction, but... I get it. EDIT: Misremembered the faction name, which kind of proves the negative people's point. Lurks With Wolves fucked around with this message at 17:55 on Mar 27, 2024 |
