I can't stress how important it is to do the bullshit solutions first.

Restart the router, restart your pc. Do this or be shunned forever. Unplug them from the ac power they crave. Deny their wants.

Removing and reinstalling the device driver is next. You got any anti-virus software?

Sounds like you fixed it somehow, but importantly I said to remove and reinstall.

Download the replacement driver. nix the driver from device manager, reboot, and see if it comes back. If it doesn't then install the driver again. You don't have to, but you came here asking for advice....

You should absolutely do the wireless hotspot thing too.
