It's called Warhammer 40k because it costs $40,000 to get your first army

orks live in an egalitarian society free of discrimination and prejudice. they organize under local collectives rather than a central authority, falling in line under a warboss only when necessary in wartime

an ork’s currency is his teeth, and his teeth regrow, ensuring no ork remains in poverty forever

vibes are the driving force of ork society and positivity creates its own reward.

so are grotz not part of this society orr....

There’s a Warhammer store next to an Italian deli near my place.
The idea of a store dedicated solely to one specific game seems odd to me, and I don’t know how long it will stay open, but so far it’s still going.

The company (games workshop) has a number of games. 40k and age of sigmar are the most popular, but they also have lord of the rings (unless they finally discontinued that), kill team, the various specialist games, and they've been making various introductory one off things as well

Okay, this has been driving me nuts. There's another table top game with little dudes but it's small unit (I think 7) and each unit is actually one thing not a group. Does anyone have any idea wtf I'm talking about?

Infinity? Warmachine? Heroquest?

Iirc another reason ork society is really resistant to corruption from chaos/stealers is that anyone acting sufficiently un-orky is swiftly dealt with

Pretty much the whole deal with Ultramarines is their gimmick is logistics and organisation, so they're boring but hilariously effective in the role that Space Marines have ended up in as semi-independent powers. Even Imperial Fists can manage. IIRC, they actually recruit sometimes from Hive World convicts.

Kinda funny that Blood Angels are probably the worst on a bad day but apparently are overall actually among the nicest and even most humble Space Marines- since they know they have major issues, they have a unique measure of humility compared to other brainwashed super-soldiers and can sympathise a little better with human beings.

Iirc weren't the salamanders the most normal/best to civilians? I even remember reading they got to see their families back at home sometimes

personally I think making custodes a whole army is stupid and the only appearance they should have is an.imperial agents type thing at most. they're just another power armored genetically modified human crowding up the range

however female custodes making people butthurt is funny
