The thing that sticks out to me about the footage is Punk's post-fight outburst. The story was that poo poo went down and he screamed, "I loving QUIT" at Tony and even had to be talked into doing his match. That always suggested that Jack Perry did more than just say the real glass stuff. There had to be some level of escalation on Jack's side that would get Punk so worked up in that moment. Starting the confrontation, getting in Punk's face, giving a push, throwing a punch, something.

Instead, Jack just stood there, basically shrugging. Punk escalated poo poo on his own and overreacted to the point that he was basically saying, "I can't believe this guy made me mad enough to suckerpunch him! I can't work here anymore!"

Been a busy three weeks, I have several Dynamites & Collisions backlogged, and I haven't been keeping up with these threads so I was completely out of the loop.

Skimmed the OP and had to do a triple-take when the recap said the legit All In footage was shown. Felt good to have a :monocle: :tviv: moment out of nowhere like that.

How long ago did the Bucks start mentioning the video in kayfabe? April 3rd Dynamite, a Rampage/Collision, or was it on social media? Keen to see how they worked it into the show.

Only last night, really. Punk did a podcast to hype up WrestleMania with that Ariel guy that Tony hates and the stuff he talked about pissed Tony off something fierce, so he decided to go scorched earth on it.

Edit: forgot to mention Chikara. The BDK was so rad. For a while anyway.

BDK was always rad. Even in its final days, when it was just Jakob Hammermeier sitting on a throne in a dark room, gradually going increasingly insane, all while reading Garfield comic collections.

Whatever happened to Jakob? I always enjoyed that dude. There’s so many guys from that era I wish hadn’t disappeared when Chikara closed. Except the lovely ones. I’m not talking about the lovely ones.

Looking at Cagematch, he still occasionally wrestles, but usually in promotions and matches that involve the Chikara guys from his era who weren't terrible people.

Last time I went to NYCC, I got to meet Tony Schiavone and told him how great it was that he was getting his flowers and how he seemed so happy doing AEW commentary. His reaction was really wholesome. Really nice guy.

I keep seeing criticism about the whole All In footage and how Jack Perry would be dead in the water because he'd be antagonizing someone who isn't in the company anymore. It hit me watching his match last night that Jack is essentially post-Montreal Shawn Michaels.

- Wrestler leaves company in a very controversial way involving a lot of tension coming to a head and a backstage fight.

- The guy running the company shows extra footage on TV in an attempt to make the wrestler look like a self-serious, violent pissbaby, but many say that doing so was a bad idea that didn't do the owner any favors.

- The close allies left behind make the incident part of their story, not that it amounts to much. I have faith that FTR will come out of this way better than Anvil and not be killed by negligence like Owen.

- There's a heel wrestler in the heart of the situation and no matter how quiet or loud the company was about the incident, it was always going to be the elephant in the room for this guy going forward. ESPECIALLY going into the homeland of the wrestler who left. So he harnesses the heat to become a louder piece of poo poo and uses it to get over the next feud.

Anyway, countdown to Punk vs. Goldberg at Crown Jewel.

more like Jacked Perry, he looks buff as hell during his entrance.

It's funny that if you took someone out of the loop and showed them a picture of Mox and then asked which of the two wrestlers in that match was his protege, they would probably guess wrong.

Not specifically just OSW but I'm surprised that it turns out the people who make fun of the standard WrestleCrap™ stuff of the '90s and even the '00s don't actually have good taste in wrestling.

Funny thing is, Wrestlecrap itself has been very fair to AEW to the point that people used to give them poo poo about being biased. As of right now, the only inductions about AEW are:

- The first Casino Battle Royale
- The Librarians
- Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara
- The exploding barbed wire botch
- Wardlow vs. 20 security guards (which I enjoyed, but I understand)
- Marina Shafir's promo
- Arcade Anarchy
- Kingston vs. Jericho in a barbed wire shark cage match
- Michael Nakazawa vs. Alex Jebailey
- Cody Rhodes vs. Anthony Ogogo
- 2023 Halloween costumes, which only qualifies for that weird Dave Meltzer Young Bucks costume
- Brandi Rhodes vs. Dave Lambert promo
- The early Dark Order run-in with the hilarious fake punches
- CM Punk in AEW (which is very anti-Punk, seemingly because RD Reynolds has had personal run-ins with Punk or is friends with people who have)
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Death Match

Outside of Arcade Anarchy, that all seems fair.

I haven't read the Wrestlecrap article, but the inaugural Casino Battle Royale was particularly awkward because it was the first match on the company's first (pre)show.

We'd heard all the stuff about AEW going for a more sports-based presentation and that sort of thing, and then the first match under the AEW banner was this comedy battle royal with a bunch of weirdos. I don't mind comedy matches full of weirdos, but this maybe didn't give off the greatest first impression.

It was also awkward due to the entrances. Later versions of the match would do a bunch of rapid-fire entrances for each suit. This one had everyone come out as groups, which really did not help when these were mostly people the audience did not know.

Hell yeah

God, this reminds me of how years ago, WWE released a series of choose-your-own-adventure books and one of them had a short bit where your rookie wrestler is pulled aside by Chris Jericho who, as a rib, tries to convince you to do a gimmick of "Kid Caveman." You can ignore him and just be yourself or you can take him up on it and immediately be labeled a laughing stock. From there, there are two options that end the story and both of them are kind of amazing in retrospect.

Choice 1: You start a fight backstage and get fired for it.

Choice 2: You double down on the gimmick and get it over. This leads to you spending time wrestling in Japan, which ends up being fruitful to your career.

I haven't been watching Dynamite for a long time but I'm going to the show tomorrow. I found the cards here but I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a good site that does show recaps so I can skim the past few weeks to get caught up on storylines. I did a little googling but wrestling news websites tend to look like they have every imaginable virus so if anyone has a fave, lemme know. Thanks!

Based on tomorrow's card, here's what you need to know:

- It's the go-home show for Dynasty. The world title match for the show is Samoa Joe defending against Swerve Strickland. Both are evil psychopaths who have been beating the poo poo out of each other over the past few weeks. Joe is heel and Swerve is kind of a tweener, but still an unrepentant monster.

- A big match at Dynasty is Bryan Danielson vs. Will Ospreay. Their respective factions (BCC and Don Callis Family) have started butting heads. Hence, Claudio vs. Ospreay. It should be noted that Ospreay has been acting like a total face and has also defeated all his fellow Callis Family members in singles competition. Powerhouse Hobbs was not happy about his loss.

- Adam Copeland is currently feuding with the House of Black and will be teaming up with Eddie Kingston and Mark Briscoe at the next PPV. Willow will be challenging for Julia Hart's TBS Championship. These two feuds crossed paths and we're getting a mixed tag out of it.

- The Young Bucks have kicked Hangman (kayfabe suspended) and Omega (legit sick) out of the Elite and replaced them with Okada. The Young Bucks will face FTR at the PPV in the finals for the vacated tag titles. Okada will be facing Pac at the PPV. For this trios match, Pac is teaming up with Penta, along with FTR's ally Daniel Garcia.

- Jon Moxley has been off TV for a bit. He just won the IWGP title. He's probably there to set up either a last minute match for Dynasty or build up Forbidden Door.

- Deonna Purrazzo is Toni Storm's former best friend and failed challenger for the title. She is taking on Toni's protege Mariah May. Both are supporting characters in the upcoming Dynasty match of Toni Storm vs. Thunder Rosa.

- Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks) has been cutting promos in AEW, but won't be wrestling until Double or Nothing. She's mostly been throwing shade at Willow for "injuring" her in Japan. Last week she was doing a sitdown interview and the lights went out. When the lights came back on, Mercedes was found beaten on the floor.

- Chris Jericho has been trying to mentor Hook and it's had mixed results, especially with Shibata hanging out with Hook lately and complicating things. Jericho wants to speak with Hook about this.

I'm doing a listicle on AEW's best storylines. I'm up for suggestions. Right now I have (in no order):

Hangman vs. Elite
Hangman vs. Swerve Strickland
CM Punk vs. MJF
Bryan Danielson vs. MJF
Brandon Cutler vs. Peter Avalon
Adam Copeland vs. Christian Cage
Orange Cassidy vs. Jon Moxley
Eddie Kingston vs. Bryan Danielson
MJF vs. Cody Rhodes
Brodie Lee vs. Cody Rhodes
