i went to the island to attend my friend’s dad’s funeral yesterday. nice service, with a lot of laughter, which was nice. my buddy invited me to come to the pub on this small island in the harbour, and there was an impromptu reception there. that was a lot of fun. and then his sister insisted that we stick around for the evening, so we all went to this property where she lives in this little a-frame in the forest surrounded by a series of bedroom shacks. it’s basically a vacation cottage commune where she lives full time. an insanely beautiful place, and really great people. to top it off we saw a seal (cute) and a sea otter (cute and much more unusual) while we were waiting for the ferry. so a sad reason for a trip, but a great couple of days nevertheless
