I was so pissed when the local Walmart stopped doing 24 hours. I had a bout of insomnia, so at 2AM I just said gently caress it and decided to do a run I was planning for later in the day. It's a 40 minute drive into town and I get there and its all shut down. "What in the high holy gently caress?!?" It was always cool to shop at 2AM, cause there would be no one there. Though one time I did run into a neighbor family; husband, wife, kid and they said they always shopped at the odd hours to avoid the crowds.

I still try to avoid the crowds as best I can because Walmart is a nightmare when it's busy. But it was pretty great to roll in there before the sun rose, do all my shopping, and be out without seeing more than 2 or 3 people in the whole store.

It’s the case in the UK as well, no 24 hour supermarkets. I remember my first time doing it, couldn’t sleep as my sleep cycle was screwed up (hello undiagnosed depression and autism in the 2000s) so decided to pop in, grabbed some stuff late at night and pop home a few times. Sure, technically we have petrol (gas) stations for some stuff now but nothing beats the big shop after going clubbing.
