Would you be my new best friends?

Easy to forget with everything else great going on, but Jericho's new clearly self-serving "I'm just here to help the talent get better!" character segment was great too.

tonight was easily the best the women's division has ever been booked in a single show. Three different segments involving 9 different women in multiple storylines that also intersect.

The Willow-Mercedes segment was such a good course correction for that storyline. Whenever AEW has an angle that's floundering, they should refer back to that as a reminder that the best stories for them to tell are usually the simplest ones. Cut the coy bullshit, downplay the mystery attack poo poo, just have them cut the core of their conflict and use that to build the match

It also helps that Willow turns out to be a more than capable live promo. I'm not gonna lie, there was a moment in time where I wasn't sure how good Willow really was, and thought that maybe she was just super over with AEW fans because she had good vibes in a relatively shallow women's division. But her work here and in the Worcester promo has me sold on her as a legitimate foundational piece for the division. Couldn't build a more natural babyface if you wanted to

Absolutely agree, I think she's more than capable of being one of the top people in AEW, and this storyline with Mone is proving it.

turn it all around

AEW hasnt really steered me wrong yet but I generally dislike whenever Tony becomes an on-screen character. Tonight was just like too much for my tastes. Its also kind of wildly stupid and doesnt make sense in the reality of AEW?

Like, we just made the Punk tape public on TV to demonstrate why a guy who started a backstage fight got fired and now we have three guys beating up the owner in the ring. Obviously one is fake and the other is not, but both exist in the reality of AEW now so why wouldnt Tony just fire The Elite?

I just hate on-screen owner poo poo and hope this isnt opening the door for more of that. Tony has been restrained about it so far and hes a nerd who clearly loves the wrestling part of wrestling, so I have some confidence he wouldnt go full Vince as a character every week. But, unless theres like a proxy group of wrestlers acting on his behalf how do you not follow up with him as a character?

So, I dunno. The ending fell incredibly flat for me because its the kind of thing I really dislike in a wrestling show and now its seeped into AEW in a main event angle. Shahid looked cool as gently caress, though.

Rest of the show was pretty good. Sucks about Hobbs. It seemed like the crowd was turning on Mon a bit which is nice to finally see because shes been incredibly rude to Willow.

Love the seeds of dissension being planted in the Callis Family, and Im hoping that with Ospreay heading towards the International Title it means he wont be Swerves opponent at All In, meaning Swerve gets a longer reign before inevitably dropping it to Will.

The sudden announcement of Kenny being on the show in Winnipeg next week has be worried its not a good thing, and that hes either announcing hes going to be out for a huge amount of time for surgery or that he has to fully retire.
