Pop music is supposed to be stupid so I don't tend to feel any embarrassment for any pop stars, but it's amusing when the artists themselves go on record to note that they're embarrassed by some of their own work. One that comes to mind is that Mariah Carey's so embarrassed by some of the material on her (9x platinum) debut album (titled "Mariah Carey") that she tries to avoid performing them or including them on compilations. She allegedly once said her song "Prisoner" was "crap on the demo, it was crap on the album, and it is still crap." This hasn't stopped a group of mischievious fans from holding a big sign that says "SING PRISONER" at every concert they attend, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TzzArX8XCk All Ms. Carey had to say about "Love Takes Time" in the liner notes of one of her greatest hits albums was "I wrote this song in five minutes."
