I loved the gag where she's looking at pictures of a dude who has seen The Ring video and his face is all warped and then she meets him and it's just his face. It's a shame Scary Movie 2 & 3 get lumped in with the whole "Movie Movie" lot. 4 though. All I rememver from 4 was giant IPods on legs.

Is it 3 that has the amazing visual joke with the Sheriff's hat? I don't know why that always cracks me the gently caress up.

Yeah, Scary Movie 3 was the last good one, and I agree with Rough Lobster that Not Another Teen Movie was pretty great too. Everything since then has pretty much sucked, though I'm told A Haunted House is actually pretty good? Haven't seen it, wouldn't know. Also my favorite thing in Scary Movie 3 is the scene where they make fun of the alien sighting newscast from Signs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1-2k-tfjF4 The way he walks across the field was always funny to me. I am a child, I guess. I also really like the bit in the Ring video where the guy sits on the spinning upside down chair and then vomits into a bucket, but I can't find that one.

The unrated version is a good reason why. Tits! Cocks! For no reason whatsoever. Looking up differences led me to this example quote quote:While the R-Rated show a bra and a bellybutton, the Unrated shoves a pair of breasts in the viewers face for five solid seconds. Here's the actual intro to the unrated version Happy Noodle Boy fucked around with this message at 06:09 on Feb 6, 2013 |

Sex Drive was hilarious, and I only ever saw the unrated version. The unrated version was great because it wasn't just tits and cocks everywhere. They had things that were almost like bloopers as part of the movie. I haven't watched the movie in years, but there was one part I kind of remember where James Marsden's character shows up to beat up the main character or something and the main guy yells "CYCLOPS!!!" when he opens the door.

As I understand, no, it's absolute garbage unless you are a massive fan of fart jokes and gay jokes. ...I could have sworn Jim Abrahams and David Zucker (the Airplane guys) were involved in the first three Scary Movies, but apparently no, they were involved in 3 and 4 with 1 and 2 completely unrelated. Zucker is writing and producing 5, but he's also got An American Carol on his resume... I don't have as much faith in the Airplane guys as I used to, guys.

That's partially because the Movie-Movie crowd has proven multiple times that you don't need to actually be witty or the least bit expensive to make your money back. All you need are bargain-bin actors, lowbrow jokes, and LOADS of flash-in-the-pan references and you're golden.

Once again, Netflix spurs a poster version comparison. I kind of like the basic Scrooged poster, even if Murray is playing it really big. But I guess the region guys felt that the UK needed it made clear that this was a CHRISTMAS movie. the bow-tie color change is what really gets me But then someone felt that wasn't spiffed up enough. Which is all well and good, except the Japanese version still kills it. if anyone can find a bigger copy of this one, please post it

I'm surprised the "lighting up a cigar" thing lasted through the new versions of the posters. You'd think that's the first thing they'd try and get rid of.

This movie is worth watching if only for Carol Kane, and Bobcat's shotgun rampage. Oh, and this amazing bit of dialogue: Frank (Bill Murray): I want to see her nipples. Network Censor: But this is a Christmas show! Frank: Well, I'm sure Charles Dickens would have wanted to see her nipples. Carpenter: You can barely see them nipples. Frank: See? And these guys are really looking.

VoidBurger posted:...so maybe you're actually onto something about Awkward Hunky Nightmare Boys being the male version of Manic Pixie Dream Girls after all. (Which is scary and sad.) If you're talking about "equivalent" as in "what would sad, lonely loser women be into" then yes, Edward Cullen and Driver would be what those women would be into. But if we're talking about literal analogues for the Manic Pixie Dream Girl, the male equivalent would be a character like Stephane in The Science of Sleep. He'd be someone who's quirky, has seemingly no "life" outside of being a charming love interest, does dubiously-legal things like breaking into people's houses, and seems to be either "simple", bubbly or outright retarded at times. I can't really think of many other examples because I don't watch many romantic comedies. But back to the Drive example, there's an entire sequence where Ryan Gosling takes his neighbor and her son out for a drive through a drainage tunnel, like it's a life-affirming event. Then they sit silently and watch the sun. It has all those trappings of "X person takes Y person out to teach them how to live and love life", it just turns it on its head by making the Dream Guy a violent, unhinged sociopath.
