Strange Matter posted:Constantine is amazing purely for casting Peter Stormare as Satan, which is the best casting decision in the history of comic book films. Some kind goon needs to do a Satan in cinema megapost listing all the notable Satan performances. Stormare's is up there, along with Viggo Mortensen's in Prophecy, DeNiro in Angel Heart, and Gabriel Byrne in End of Days (the only good part of that movie). and because this is the movie posters thread and not "suggest more threads" thread...

Satan Met A Lady is actually an earlier adaptation of the Maltese Falcon and doesn't involve the real Satan

Satan met a Lady sounds like a romantic comedy. I wonder how they met-cute.

I'm surprised Hollywood hasn't tried a "Satan falls for a lady" comedy lately. I don't really count Little Nicky and Witches of Eastwick was a while ago. Also, I wouldn't really call Witches of Eastwick a traditional romantic comedy. Re: notable versions of the Devil, what'd you guys make Pacino in the Devil's Advocate? I know it was hammy, but I figure the devil is supposed be kinda bombastic. El Gallinero Gros fucked around with this message at 03:31 on Nov 1, 2013 |

There was that flick with Anna Kendrick and Craig Robertson, although I think he plays the Anti-christ so it might not count. E-- Yeah, Rapture-palooza

Tom Waits was such an obvious choice for the devil I'm amazed it took so long for that to happen. Pacino was great too.

Lobok posted:There was that earlier poster too with Peeta and Katniss posed like old propaganda ubermensch posters that was cool maybe not for flawless execution but for originality and nailing the story's content. Yeah; it seems like Catching Fire actually got a pretty good and creative marketing team, judging by their posters. Better than the generic stuff you'd expect from a movie like that, anyway. I quite liked their take on the compulsory character posters, too. (Although there are the generic poo poo ones for it around too, but that's pretty much required by the studio) MikeJF fucked around with this message at 09:49 on Nov 1, 2013 |

I'm hesitant to bring it up, because it was Not A Good Show, but Ray Wise in the tv show Reaper was a really great Satan, particularly if you like used-car salesman hotshot Satan who hides his evil behind a smile.

Also agreed on Viggo in Prophecy. A very underrated performance in an underrated movie. Walken is so much fun in it. If we're talking Satan, you gotta add The Mysterious Stranger from the Mark Twain claymation movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifeyKhxgHbA

That wasn't the first time I'd seen the trailer (I posted a thread about it on here when it came out), but it was the first time I'd seen it before another movie in theaters. Oh, trust me. I've seen the tralier, too. I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for a PG-13 Robocop reboot, despite the fact that Gary Oldman is one of the raddest dudes alive.

Whoever posted that new poster about the remastered version of The Visitor, I want to congratulate you because I finally saw a copy of that film and it's a beautiful and interesting failure. There's parts were it gets pretty hokey and you can see where it's ripping off, but, Jesus (or should I say Djesus), I wasn't let down by that movie. I will now need to find this remastered copy.

Huh, so this is what the album cover for Electric Wizard's Witchcult Today is based on. Anyways, after looking it up, I see that The Devil's Bride is an alternate title of The Devil Rides Out, which means more posters to be found! The original British poster, which frankly isn't as interesting in my opinion. C-c-c-c-combo style! I wonder exactly what region this French/Dutch/English trilingual poster would've been for (somewhere in Belgium, perhaps?). Doctor Bishop fucked around with this message at 19:42 on Nov 3, 2013 |
