That makes Butters' complaints about the drat show taking too long to get to the parts with magic and dragons even funnier.

They are pretty cinematic, and I don't think they have much literary quality. When I started to read GoT, I was a shocked because the writing seemed a bit wooden, for want of a better word; definitely not in line with the high quality feel of the TV series. But the books got better as they progressed, purely from the standpoint of literary quality, meaning the form, not the content.

I wonder how many show-only people will bow out once Oberyn dies, that's probably the point at which it becomes abundantly clear that nothing "good" happens ever. I've spoken to a couple people who are already tired of that fact. Their favorite character is Dany because she does things with heart.

Yes, "Play with her arse" is just such exquisitely literary, high quality writing. The contrast is indeed, excusez le mot, stark.

After the Red Wedding I kind of thought HBO was going to have to run ads like "Joffrey bites it soon, we promise" to avoid a huge loss in viewers.

It's from the show, where Littlefinger gives the whole 'I won't fight them, I'll gently caress them' speech.

Show Dany annoys me so much more than Book Dany, and Book Dany is loving annoying. Emilia Clarke doesn't have much to work with, granted, but every scene with her boils down to "look regal, say vaguely threatening poo poo in a pretentious accent." Maybe that's the whole show, but I find it especially grating in a plot thread where every turn for three books boils down to "we underestimated this Targ chick and her followers, gently caress."

Joffrey is already dead so you have proof that good things happen. And nobody but nerds on the internet give a gently caress about the red viper, who gets a couple pages and then bites it like a chump.

So I didn't know what to quote so I'll just say Oberyn is super cool, but we do still have Darkstar-kun and Daario-san, but also Joffrey dying will have a huge impact. So many people hate that guy, which is justified, and he's arguably even worse in the show than the book, which is credit to the actor. Oberyn will be in like 3 episodes tops and won't destroy all the goodwill they build by having Joffrey die. And then a couple eps later Tyrion will take Tywin out like a bitch which will keep people going to the next season, where loving nothing will happen

I mean ros just fills in the roles for like 3 whores from the books that didn't make it onto the show right

Some people think the showrunners wont go for the Shae strangling given how much development they've given her and have made her a much more substantive character, and perhaps the desire to keep Tyrion an unblemished "good" character, and instead Tyrion will find her dead in Tywin's bed or something. I'm not so sure, they were certainly ballsy enough to kill a pregnant lady, we'll see. But they've definitely changed some things so her betrayal may be different in some way.

I dunno if its just me, but I find book Shae a lot more likable than TV Shae, In the books I could see why Tyrion liked her, but in the show, she just seems mean and petty and annoying all the time and I won't be sad to see her go.

You kind of got this the other way around, in the books Shae is a run of the mill prostitute and the entire relationship pretty much exists only in Tyrion's imagination. In the show she likes him and is hurt by his marriage to Sansa, she also endangers herself to protect Sansa when she serves as her handmaiden.

I totally agree. In the book she is just innocent and a whore that only cares about gold and getting laid. In the show she is a hard-assed cutthroat killer hat can fend for herself just fine without Tyrion. In the books I was shocked to see she turned on Tyrion and in the show I doubt the TV audience will feel the same with TV Shae. Her attitude is just too cutthroat to be shocked by her turning on Tyrion and it will be more of a cheesy WWE heel turn than character depth. Anyways I can't wait to see her gone. She is a terrible actress and even her porn was bad.
