In the meantime, exchanges and wallet services - and any service sending coins directly to third parties - should be extremely careful with anyone claiming their transaction did not go through. Note that this will also affect any other crypto-currency using the same transaction scheme as Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin Foundation, Coinbase, Bitstamp and Blockchain.info need to issue a statement debunking Gox's "bitcoin bug" argument (self.Bitcoin) submitted 16 minutes ago by czzarr Most people trust MtGox. It's the oldest exchange, was the most mentioned in the media. Their press release is pure bullshit but it's a subject that's way too technical anyway for most people to grasp. We need other big players to step up and reassure people, or this could be the death of Bitcoin. [–]NilamDoc 1 point 2 minutes ago Whatever may be the reason at MtGox, but the excuse they have given does not justify! They should consult better knowledgeable persons before sending such press releases.

lol at redditors calling it Transaction Malleability when the fed does something it's "like the holocaust in my butt!" bitcoin could literally just disappear randomly and this is simply a "algorhythmic anomaly" and should not worry you by any means just a hiccup on the way to the future

I trust algorithms more than institutions. If we just stuck with the first Bitcoin protocol from Satoshi, none of these bugs would have crept in. The institution The Bitcoin Foundation is at fault, clearly.

Keep calm, transaction malleability is not double spending (self.Bitcoin) submitted 3 hours ago by malefizer It is well known since years and means only that you have a different transaction ID than your service is showing. At the end you should see the exit at your spending address an usual, only with another tx id. What does it: somebody on the network sees your tx and makes a identical copy of it with some extra data, to have a different hash value. He CAN NOT diverge the transaction to another target address or double spend it. BECAUSE crypto remains unbroken.
