Would you like some politically-loaded maps?  Let's talk about vaccinations in the Netherlands. Young children get a vaccination against measles, mumps and rubella (abbreviated BMR in Dutch), and another one against diphtheria, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and tetanus (DKTP). There's some other vaccinations, but these two are often considered the most important ones. Every few years (usually when an epidemic happens) there's a big debate about the fact that parents can choose to have their children not vaccinated. One issue is 'herd immunity'. See, vaccinations do not work for every single child. That's not a problem, as long as enough of their peers are vaccinated. In that case there aren't enough hosts for the viruses to be able to spread to those who aren't immune. There are two main groups of people who choose to not have their children vaccinated. One group consists of the followers of anthroposophy. The other consists of members of the very strict and traditionalist Reformed Church. I believe the first group is the largest, but they live all over the country, so they are mostly protected by herd immunity. However, the members of the Reformed Church mostly live in a small band of towns across the country. It's known as the Dutch Bible Belt. These maps are made by the National Institute for Public Health. Basically, what they've done is started with herd immunity numbers: everyone is protected if at least 90% of the population has the DKTP vaccination. The number is 95% for BMR, because the viruses work differently. The municipalities where everyone is considered protected are in white. In case the vaccination percentage is too low, they have calculated (I don't know how) the percentage of 2-year olds at risk because of the lack of herd immunity. That's what the colours indicate. The difference between the maps is caused by the fact that BMR needs a higher percentage for herd immunity. In any case, the maps show the extent of the Bible Belt quite well. For a comparison, here's a map of the percentage of voters voting for the SGP, which is a political party strongly related to the Reformed Church.

Though in terms of chest-beating nationalism who's the worst offender on the continent? From anecdotal experience I saw few German flags while in Berlin, but a glut of Union Jacks while in London. Often as a pro argument for living in Malmö or Copenhagen ("closer to the continent!"), or as an explanation for why Danes are stereotypically more laidback and have more liberal policies towards things like alcohol, prostitution and stuff like that which they share more with "continental" Europe.

Thought it was just a generic map of the Great Lakes region.The Enabling Act of 1802 drew Ohio's border at the southern most point of Lake Michigan, which was thought at the time to be parallel with Lake St. Clare. When the error was discovered, the Ohio government tried to revise their borders to encompass the Maumee River Watershed, but the matter died in committee. The reasons were probably near-entirely political, especially British race theorist types really hated the Irish largely because they needed a way to justify what they're doing in Ireland. Whiteness has never really solely - and on those days even mostly - been about how white your skin is. When scientific racism was peaking, it was quite exaggaratedly a deal of "bad guys vs. good guys" or how Asian do you think Slavs really look?

In all seriousness, Holland has one of the highest (if not the highest) percentages of non-religious people.
